Firefox 8 Officially Available to Download Now

The new major release of Mozilla’s web browser, Firefox8, officially launches Nov. 8. However, as usual, it’s available to download on Mozilla’s servers a bit early, meaning you can install it right now.

The new release comes only one and a half months after Firefox 7. This is in line with Mozilla’s new rapid release strategy, under which we can expect a major new release of Firefox every 6 weeks.

Besides the usual stability and performance fixes, Firefox 8 brings support for Twitter in the search bar, some additional tab options (tabs can now be loaded at a user’s request after a browser restart) and improved add-on management and security.

New hologram technology brings 3-D to life

Executives may not be able to beam a full three-dimensional image of themselves across the world just yet but researchers are a step closer to 3-D real-time images, an advance in holographic technology that could make video conferencing far more lifelike.

The earliest use of the technology could be in movies, given the popularity of 3-D films such as “Avatar.”

Best ways to protect your pc from virus

Computer viruses are deadly. They often spread without any apparent contact and can be a nuisance, or even worse, fatal to your computer. Individuals who create these viruses, estimated at 10-15 new ones a day, are the electronic version of terrorists.

Their goal is to inflict havoc and destruction on as many people as possible by disabling, stealing, damaging, or destroying computer and information resources. Often, they have no specific target in mind, so no one is safe. If you access the internet, share files or your computer with others, or load anything from diskettes, CDs, or DVDs onto your computer, you are vulnerable to viruses.
Fortunately, there are good guys working just as hard as the hackers to develop cures for viruses as quickly as they send them off into cyberspace. And there are many things you can do to keep your computer from catching viruses in the first place.
